Part Time Retail Associates - Houston Astros (Houston, TX)

The Houston Astros are looking for friendly faces to add to our Part Time Retail Associate team. As a retail associate, you will be a front line representative for the club in our in stadium retail store locations. This requires excellent customer service and communication skills. With games occurring at different times throughout the season, a flexible schedule is also a must. 

This is a PART TIME/GAME DAY/SEASONAL position that requires daytime, nighttime, and weekend availability. The majority of the hours that we have to offer coincide with our game schedule. While you will be eligible for off-season hours, the frequency is reduced compared to the game schedule

Job Duties:

• Greets and acknowledges guests.
• Answers guests’ questions and assists them whenever possible.
• Recommends, selects and helps locate or obtain merchandise for guests.
• Processes sale with appropriate point of sale system, accepts payment, counts change and bags merchandise.
• Follows all register procedures and handles cash accordingly.
• Exchanges merchandise for guests and processes returns, with approval of supervisor
• Maintains records related to sales.
• Ensures that all merchandise is correctly labeled and displayed.
• Routinely stocks merchandise and faces items on shelves.
• Verifies amount of bank at beginning and the end of each shift.
• Maintains a clean and organized store or stand.
• Maintains orderly back-stock and knows where goods are to be found.
• Sets aside and notifies supervisor of defective, mismarked, mislabeled, incorrectly priced, shopworn or damaged merchandise.
• Watches for and recognizes security risks and thefts and reports to security and management.
• Completes all related close-out paperwork.
• Performs other duties as assigned, such as conducting inventory or loading and unloading merchandise.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Previous experience in cash handling.
• Previous experience with operating point-of-sale systems.
• Previous experience in retail or customer service environment.
• Excellent guest service skills; ability to adhere to Company’s customer service standards.
• Good communication skills; ability to communicate with guests and co-workers
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Basic math skills; ability to accurately handle money and count change.
• Willingness to aggressively sell assigned items.
• Capable of following job guidelines and supervisors' instructions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for entire length of shift.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs frequently.
  • Bending, reaching, and climbing on step stool.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to see and distinguish merchandise and operate point-of-sale system.

This position is mainly a seasonal position with limited event opportunities in the off-season.

Retail: Warehouse Operations
Part Time Retail Warehouse Manager - Houston Astros Baseball Club (Houston, TX)

The Houston Astros are looking for a Part Time Retail Warehouse Manager to assist the Assistant Buyer in overseeing the warehouse operations for the Retail department.


POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Assistant Buyer, this part time position oversees warehouse operations and provides direction to Warehouse Supervisor and Warehouse Attendants. Oversees movement of retail product throughout Minute Maid Park.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises Warehouse Supervisor and Warehouse Attendants; completes warehouse operational needs by assigning employees and following up on work results.
  • Receives shipments from vendor and verifies the accuracy of contents.
  • Trains to, and maintains retail standards, policies and procedures.
  • Ensures integrity of physical inventory and par levels.
  • Delivers product throughout the facility, in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Stocks product in warehouse; ensures that inventory levels of supplies are maintained.
  • Ensure manifest accuracy - accurately account for and record merchandise upon receipt and note any discrepancies against expected/ordered quantities.
  • Develop and implement an efficient method of storing merchandise to ensure proper space allocation and ease of transport.
  • Work with Director of Merchandising and Retail Operations to coordinate proper warehousing of merchandise and distribution to desired locations.
  • Manage the inventory flow at various warehouse locations throughout the ballpark and ensure proper closing of transfers and allocations.
  • Develop and implement plan for cycle counts, audits and full inventory control and report results.
  • Initiate transfers within the organization to balance needs.
  • Develop and execute a defective merchandise program as needed.
  • Manage daily warehouse schedules.
  • Keeps work area and equipment neat and clean.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum one year experience in a warehouse operations and/or retail environment preferred.
  • Previous experience working with point of sale (POS) system required.
  • High school Diploma or GED required, College Degree preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent guest service skills; ability to adhere to Company’s customer service standards.
  • Ability to interact on a professional level with high profile clients.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate with staff and prepare written reports
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to direct the work activities of several associates simultaneously and plan ahead.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Basic math skills; ability to accurately handle money and count change.
