The Houston Astros Internships are intended for individuals with a strong desire to gain real-world work experience, as well as a desire to work hard and give their best. Learning potential is endless in these positions and interns get out of the experience what they put into it.  While primarily intended as an educational experience, these internships are paid.

Summary:

As a part of the Business Strategy & Analytics Team, the intern will be responsible for coordinating market research efforts, collecting data, performing data analysis, and developing output of the results. The Intern will contribute to high visibility projects for the organization, which will have a direct impact on the top and bottom line.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle the logistics for online surveys
  • Use online software to program market research surveys
  • Manage market research survey responses and compile data for analysis
  • Collect and compile data for analysis from various sources
  • Perform data analysis on market research, ticketing, and secondary data sources
  • Perform online research utilizing public and subscription services
  • Assist other departments as needed

Job Requirements:

  • Currently working towards (or recent graduate with) a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, marketing, engineering, or related field with record of strong academic achievement
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Highly analytical with a quantitative academic background
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, young, and energetic office environment
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • Critical attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently

Summer 2017 Internship- IT - Houston Astros Baseball (Houston, TX)

Learning potential is endless in these positions and interns get out of the experience what they put into it.  While primarily intended as an educational experience, these internships are paid.

Summary:

The Astros are seeking a creative and qualified intern willing to gain hands-on experience with the day to day operations of the department.  This internship will provide an excellent learning opportunity for those in pursuit of a technology related degree/career.

The successful candidate should expect to gain experience:
•    Providing end user support for internal users and company guests.
•    Responding to and handling the organizations Help Desk calls to completion.
•    Following up on open help desk calls and verifying their completion.
•    Backing up and re-imaging PC’s.
•    Unlocking user accounts and resetting passwords.
•    Assist in the recycling of old technology including wiping hard drives and organizing equipment for recycling/disposal.
•    Other applicable opportunities. 

Qualifications:
•    Organized, detail oriented and driven with an enthusiastic attitude for learning.
•    Strong communication skills.
•    This individual should provide helpful and professional demeanor to all employees, vendors and guests.
•    Basic knowledge of PC Hardware and troubleshooting hardware failures (Mac experience is a plus).
•    The ability to multi-task, establish priorities and work well in a fast paced team environment.
•    Ability to troubleshoot printer problems.
•    The ability to complete physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing stairs and being on your feet for long periods of time.
•    Dependable transportation that will allow daily punctuality.

Summer 2017 Internship- Retail - Houston Astros Baseball (Houston, TX)

The Houston Astros Internships are intended for individuals with a strong desire to gain real-world work experience, as well as a desire to work hard and give their best. Learning potential is endless in these positions and interns get out of the experience what they put into it.  While primarily intended as an educational experience, these internships are paid.

Job Summary:

Overseeing all aspects of the Retail Department for the Houston Astros; including origination to completion of game day and non-game day retail functions at Minute Maid Park.

Candidates will have the opportunity to get exposed to our business, develop management skills and determine if they would like to pursue a career in the sports and entertainment industry.

Essential Functions:
•    Assists in coordination of game day retail operations to ensure all Houston Astros customer service                policies are implemented.
•    Perform administrative duties, including but not limited to: creating and fostering client relations, creating        purchase orders, communicating requests to back of house management and updating daily sales reports.
•    Assist with cost control efforts for labor and cost of goods management through monthly inventory and            daily constraints.
•    Inspection of store and warehouse for readiness for daily events.
•    Setting up, executing and breaking down of daily onsite and special offsite events.
•    Team with retail management in any other duties to ensure success of the department and the company.

Non-Game Day
•    Run specific reporting as required by buying team.
•    Provide monthly inventory of all retail locations.
•    Setting up retail space for non-game days and upcoming events.
•    Weekly cleaning of warehouse and store where necessary.
•    Restocking warehouse and store locations following games.
•    Any other duties to ensure readiness for all events.

Qualifications/Expectations:
•    Successful candidates should have or be pursing Field of study and be interested in a future with Retail         Operations, Fashion Design, Marketing, or Management.
•    Candidate should be detail-oriented, show initiative and enthusiasm.
•    Possess strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
•    Anticipate guests’ needs and exceed their expectations.
•    Prioritize needs and responsibilities effectively.
•    Have the ability to resolve problems through identification, analysis and execution.
•    Handle stress and time management in a fast paced environment.
•    Must be able to work early mornings, evenings and weekends- depending on Houston Astros schedule.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel a plus.
