This position is located in West Palm Beach, Florida.


?Contribute to the Houston Astros Spring Training Operations for the 2017 season as one of our highly valued team members. We’re looking for dynamic individuals who can contribute to our operations in West Palm Beach, Florida. This position runs from February 28th to March 29th. This position will work closely with front office executives, gameday staff, facilities staff, and fans.

The Communications Part Time Associate will assist in various functions in the department, including but not limited to:

• Responsible for distribution of lineups, stats and game notes prior to games to members of the media, broadcasters and to the home and visiting clubhouses
• Responsible for distribution of postgame information
• Press box administration; broadcast booth administration
• Creating lineup sheet
• Assisting with in-game lineup changes
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, etc) and PageMaker or InDesign
• Other duties as assigned

This position is recommended for candidates with a background in Communications, particularly Journalism, and Public Relations.

Communications: Live Event Production: Announcers, DJs, MCs
In-Game Host- Spring Training (West Palm Beach, FL- Ballpark of the Palm Beaches) - Houston Astros (West Palm Beach, FL)


The Houston Astros are looking for live host with a fun, outgoing personality (with a delivery to match!) to be an engaging and entertaining in-stadium personality as part of the excitement of the inagural 2017 Houston Astros spring training season. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as a live, on-the-field host at every Houston Astros Spring Training game.
Ability to display confidence on camera, as well as conduct interviews with guests.

Creative with the ability to contribute to the in-game entertainment atmosphere by generating ideas for features.
Able to seamlessly connect relevant baseball information during the in-game production as related to Houston Astros baseball.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
An outgoing personality, great voice and above average presentation skills. 
Exceptional writing and communication skills are required.
Ability to perform well and maintain professional composure, appearance and demeanor at all times, while under a wide range of stressors or circumstances.
Ability to work all Astros home games during Spring Training.
Experienced at finding new ways to deliver a feature.
Ability to build, maintain and grow your audience through your engaging personality, hosting style and overall presentation.
Fundamental knowledge of the Houston Astros, Major League Baseball and the local community.
Ability to work a varied schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays as required.

Additional Qualifications (preferred, not required):

Experience in an on-camera role.
Experience working in a sports-related organization.
Experience hosting live events.
Bilingual English-Spanish.

Physical Requirements of the Job:

Ability to work in a high activity and heavily crowded professional sports venue in all weather extremes for extended periods of time.
Position will require standing for long periods of time, walking long distances and/or climibing up/down stairs.
May be required to stoop, kneel and crouch.

Part-time Instructor, Urban Youth Academy - Houston Astros (Houston, TX)


This position will provide major league style baseball/softball instruction and training in the areas of hitting, pitching, fielding, base running and game knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

•    Provide baseball and/or softball instruction during scheduled events at the UYA.
•    Assist with various aspects of organizing or coordinating athletic events held at the UYA.
•    Support the UYA’s marketing efforts and outreach by participating in various public events, speaking              engagements and other outreach or promotional programs and events.
•    High level of demonstrated professionalism and integrity.
•    Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with members of the community, organizations, sponsors, instructors, players and coaches.
•    Creative, energetic and proactive approach to work.
•    Strong relationship-building skills.
•    Represents the Astros in a positive and professional manner at all times.
•    Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

•    Minimum of a 2 year associates degree or major/minor league baseball experience or current collegiate level baseball player/athlete.
•    Minimum of 1-2 years of proven experience in coaching high school, college, professional baseball or management of organized sports/recreational activities or current collegiate level baseball player/athlete.
•    Extensive knowledge of one or more (baseball/softball) skills designated for instruction.
•    Strong time management and organizational skills
•    Demonstrated and proven ability to work with children and parents.
•    Exceptional communication skills.  
•    Minimum physical requirements: able to gain access to various areas of the UYA for prolonged periods during events; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
•    Possess very high degree of discretion and professionalism.
•    Professional image and demeanor.

Part Time Charitable 50/50 Raffle Ticket Seller - Houston Astros (Houston, TX)

Supervisor:       Coordinator, 50/50 Charitable Raffle

Classification:   Part-Time/Non-exempt

The Astros Foundation is seeking enthusiastic ticket sellers to raise charitable funds via the 50/50 Raffle program during Astros home games.  Ticket Sellers will be stationed throughout the ballpark enabling guests to purchase raffle tickets from when gates open through the end of the 6th inning.

Essential Functions:

  • Effectively communicate and deliver information regarding the Astros Foundation charitable endeavors.

  • Attend home games and sell 50/50 raffle tickets to guests of Minute Maid Park utilizing electronic system.

  • Exhibit an outgoing personality; approaching ballpark guests pre-game and in-game with sales pitches encouraging the purchase of raffle tickets.

  • Accurately handle large amounts of cash transactions and distribution of raffle tickets.

  • Reconcile and report raffle totals to 50/50 Raffle Coordinator at close of the 6th inning.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Competencies & Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience handling cash in a customer service role.

  • Charismatic personality with ability to interact positively with fan base and actively engage all guests.

  • Goal oriented; able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to comfortably and persuasively promote raffle sales.

  • Enthusiastic and passionate; Interest in sports philanthropy or nonprofit fundraising a plus.

  • Available to work a flexible schedule which includes nights, weekends and holidays. 

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Work will be performed in a stadium and office environment where noise/crowd levels greatly vary.

  • Frequent walking or standing/remaining on ones’ feet for prolonged periods of time.

  • May work at heights and climb up/down stairs.

  • Frequent carrying and/or transporting of objects, usually by hand, arm or shoulder.
