Player Development Technology Apprentice- Buies Creek, NC - Houston Astros (Houston, TX)

The Player Development Technology Apprentice will be responsible for game video and data collection for the Astros Player Development Department at our affiliate while reporting to the Minor League Technology Coordinator. Technologies will include but not be limited to:


•TrackMan Radar

•Blast Motion Swing Sensors

•Sports Medicine & Performance Wearable Devices

This Apprentice will work during home games including playoffs. The approximate dates for this position are 4/7/17 through 9/7/17. Compensation will be minimum wage based on hours worked plus time and a half overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in accordance with State and Federal laws. Baseball knowledge is required for this position along with strong organization skills, communication skills and accountability.

Baseball Operations: Team Administration/Operations
Junior Baseball Systems Developer - Houston Astros Baseball Club (Houston, TX)

The Houston Astros are seeking a Junior Baseball Systems Developer for the team’s Baseball Research and Development group.  The Junior Baseball Systems Developer will collaborate with the analytics team to build infrastructure and design systems that encourage the effective understanding and application of information throughout Baseball Operations. 


  • Create and maintain web applications and tools

  • Maintain ETL jobs for incoming data feeds

  • Build reports and data visualizations

  • Produce ad hoc queries to support the R&D team

  • Ensure data integrity within the database



  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

  • 1+ years relevant work experience

  • Technical proficiency with C# and SQL

  • Experience with MVC, Javascript (jQuery), JSON, XML, CSS, HTML

  • Familiarity with statistics

  • Experience with baseball data and understanding of sabermetric concepts is a plus

  • Possess excellent problem solving capability and the ability to quickly learn new technologies

  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
